Prunus lusitanica 'Myrtifolia'
Prunus lusitanica 'Myrtifolia', also known as 'Angustifolia', is a refined evergreen shrub with a naturally elegant, upright habit. Its narrow, glossy green leaves are carried on contrasting reddish-purple stems, providing attractive year-round colour and structure.
In early summer, masses of fragrant white flower spikes appear above the foliage, attracting bees and other pollinating insects. These are followed by clusters of small black berries in autumn, providing additional seasonal interest and a valuable food source for birds.
Hardy, versatile and easy to maintain, 'Myrtifolia' is ideal for hedging, screening and structural planting in mixed borders. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and performs best in moist but well-drained soil, making it suitable for both formal and naturalistic planting schemes.
