Primula vulgaris 'Obsidian Blue'

Primula 'Obsidian Blue' is a striking evergreen primrose producing deep violet-blue flowers with contrasting golden centres. The richly coloured blooms sit just above neat rosettes of textured green foliage, creating a bold splash of colour in late winter and early spring.

Ideal for brightening shaded borders, woodland gardens and containers, this compact variety performs best in moist, well-drained soil. Plant in groups for maximum impact, where its intense colouring provides welcome early-season interest when little else is in flower.

  • Evergreen primrose with deep violet-blue blooms from March to May
  • Early flowering for late winter and spring colour
  • Excellent for woodland and shaded borders
  • Attractive to bees and early pollinators
  • Prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soil
  • Height 20cm - Spread 20cm
