Malus 'Red Sentinel' - Fan trained
Malus 'Red Sentinel' is a superb ornamental crab apple, fan trained to create an attractive structured form that is ideal for growing against a wall or fence. In spring, masses of pink buds open to pure white blossom, creating a beautiful display and providing an excellent source of food for pollinating insects.
Glossy green foliage provides a fresh backdrop through summer before the tree develops an abundance of bright red crab apples in autumn. These decorative fruits persist well into winter, extending the season of interest and providing a valuable food source for garden birds.
The fan-trained form makes 'Red Sentinel' particularly useful where space is limited or where a decorative feature is required against a sunny or partially shaded wall. With blossom, foliage and persistent winter fruits, it provides an impressive display across several seasons.
