Mahonia 'JungleWhisper'
Mahonia 'JungleWhisper™' is a distinctive new evergreen shrub with a compact, bushy habit and an exotic, jungle-inspired appearance. Attractive young shoots emerge with rich red colouring, providing a striking contrast against the mature green foliage and giving the plant interest throughout the year.
From summer into autumn, numerous purple-red buds open progressively from the base of the flower panicles to reveal unusual double flowers in vivid orange and yellow. The abundant blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, making 'JungleWhisper™' particularly valuable for extending pollinator interest later in the season.
Healthy, hardy and versatile, 'JungleWhisper™' can be grown in full sun, partial shade or shade in moist but well-drained soil. Its naturally bushy growth makes it suitable as a specimen shrub, for mass planting or as a low informal hedge, while established plants also have good drought tolerance. Pruning is generally unnecessary but plants can be lightly trimmed to shape if required.
