Imperata cylindrica 'Red Baron'
Imperata cylindrica 'Red Baron' is a striking ornamental grass prized for its vivid, colour-changing foliage. The upright leaves emerge fresh green before developing rich crimson-red tips, creating a dramatic flame-like effect as the season progresses.
The intense red colouring becomes most pronounced from summer into autumn, adding bold contrast and movement to planting schemes. Its compact, clump-forming habit makes it particularly effective in contemporary gardens, naturalistic borders and mixed grass plantings.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, 'Red Baron' is ideal for borders, containers and mass planting. It performs best in full sun in moist but well-drained soil, where the foliage develops its strongest colour.
