Ilex 'J C van Tol' is a superb evergreen holly with a broadly upright habit and an elegant, refined appearance. A self-fertile female variety, it produces an abundant crop of bright red berries without the need for a pollinating partner. Nearly spineless, glossy dark green leaves make it a safer and more user-friendly holly for gardens and for cutting. Young shoots emerge rich purple, developing into dense, attractive foliage throughout the year.
