Hoya kerrii
Hoya kerrii is a charming trailing or climbing houseplant with thick, green heart-shaped waxy leaves that have earned it the nickname “Sweetheart Plant”. Mature plants produce long vines bearing multiple leaves and, with time and the right conditions, clusters of star-shaped, fragrant flowers that add extra appeal to this much-loved species.
Perfect for bright indoor spaces, it works beautifully as a trailing plant from shelves or hanging pots, or trained around a support for a more structured display. Often sold as a single-leaf cutting around Valentine’s Day, established plants gradually develop into fuller, characterful specimens that make long-lasting decorative features.
- Other names: Wax Plant, Sweetheart Hoya, Valentine Hoya
- Useful to know: Non-toxic - safe around pets and children
- Eventual height: Can grow up to 150cm
- Origins: Southeast Asia
