Drosera capensis ‘Alba’
Drosera capensis ‘Alba’ is an attractive green and white form of the Cape Sundew, producing fresh green leaves covered with glistening, sticky tentacles that trap small insects such as fruit flies. Unlike the more familiar pink-flowered form, ‘Alba’ produces delicate white flowers, creating a lovely contrast above its bright green foliage. Bushy, fascinating and highly effective at catching small flies, it is one of the easiest sundews to grow.
Perfect for a sunny windowsill, conservatory or greenhouse, ‘Alba’ makes an unusual and rewarding addition to a houseplant collection. It can be grown indoors throughout the year and looks particularly effective alongside other forms of Drosera capensis, where the different foliage and flower colours create an interesting carnivorous plant display.

Drosera Care Sheet
Light: Grow in very bright light with several hours of direct sunlight each day. Good light encourages strong, compact growth and plenty of sticky dew on the leaves.
Water: Keep the compost consistently wet using rainwater or distilled water only. During active growth, stand the pot in a shallow tray of water and never allow the compost to dry out.
Soil/Nutrition: Use specialist carnivorous plant compost or an unfertilised mix suitable for sundews. Never use ordinary houseplant compost or fertiliser, as the roots are adapted to nutrient-poor conditions.
Humidity: Normal household humidity is generally suitable. Good light and consistently wet compost are more important than very high humidity.
Pruning and propagation: Remove old leaves and spent flower stems as required. Mature plants can be propagated from seed, leaf cuttings or by dividing established plants.
Experience level: Beginner.

Drosera Plant Care
Watering
Keep this plant moist. To make it easy, keep the plant on a dish filled with water. As soon as it is dry refill it.
Location
Keep the Drosera in a light place. If the plant loses its “dew” this is an indication that it needs more humidity. Move to a more humid environment or cover it with glass.
Of the Drosera’s in our current range, the Drosera filiformis, nidiformis and binata are all winter hardy. This does not apply to the rest and they should be brought in before the start of the winter.
Fertilizer
The Drosera does not need fertilizer.
