Corylus avellana 'Red Majestic' ®
Corylus 'Red Majestic' is a beautiful unusual variety with distinctive 'corkscrew' branches which bear long purple catkins in late winter and early spring. Deep plum-purple foliage in early summer, becoming green-tinted as the leaves mature, then bright purple in autumn, before falling to reveal the corkscrew branches. This striking and dramatic deciduous shrub makes an excellent focal point in borders or winter gardens and thrives in most soil types.
