Citrus × limonia 'Rangpur Lime'
Citrus × limonia 'Rangpur Lime' is an aromatic and highly distinctive citrus variety, celebrated for its intense fragrance and striking, brightly coloured fruit. Known in some regions as Leila or Lima Rangpur, this plant has travelled far to join the Citrina family. In India it is called Gandhraj, meaning “King of Fragrances”, a fitting name for a citrus with such richly perfumed spring blossoms.
Its flowers open from beautiful purple-tinged buds and fill the air with an exceptional scent. The fruit is equally fascinating: unlike typical green limes, Rangpur limes ripen to a vivid orange in autumn, offering a bold, tangy flavour that is prized in cooking and drinks.
With its glossy evergreen foliage, fragrant blooms and colourful harvest, it is perfect for growing in patio pots, conservatories or sunny, sheltered gardens during the warmer months. Best kept in a container so it can be moved to frost-free protection in winter.
