Begonia palmata ‘D Don’
Begonia palmata ‘D Don’ is a striking species begonia grown for its bold, deeply lobed foliage and architectural growth habit. The rich green leaves are divided into pointed, hand-shaped lobes with subtle veining and a lightly textured surface, giving the plant a dramatic tropical appearance.
Unlike many rex begonias, this variety stands out through its sculptural structure rather than metallic patterning. Upright and slightly cane-forming, it brings texture and movement to indoor plant displays while remaining compact enough for shelves, plant stands or bright humid rooms.

Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the foliage.
Water: Keep compost lightly moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between watering. Avoid waterlogging.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a loose, free-draining compost mix rich in organic matter. Feed during spring and summer.
Humidity: Benefits from moderate humidity and good airflow to keep foliage healthy.
Pruning and propagation: Pinch back stems to encourage bushier growth and remove damaged leaves promptly. Can be propagated from stem cuttings.
