Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia'
Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia' is a bold, broad-leaved evergreen shrub with large, glossy leaves splashed with bright yellow variegation. A striking female selection, it brings light and structure to shady corners, with leathery, tropical-looking foliage that performs reliably all year round.
Exceptionally tolerant of dry shade, pollution and coastal winds, this hardy and low-maintenance variety is ideal for urban gardens and challenging sites. Small purple flowers may appear in spring, followed by glossy red berries in autumn and winter if a male Aucuba is planted nearby, adding valuable seasonal interest and wildlife appeal.
