Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf'
Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf' – A dramatic branching succulent with rosettes of deep purple, almost black leaves held on tall stems. In bright light, the colour intensifies to near jet black. This architectural plant brings bold contrast to sunny patios, windowsills, or conservatories.
- Other names: Aeonium arboreum 'Zwartkop', Black Rose Aeonium
- Useful to know: Pet safe
- Eventual height: Up to 90cm tall, 60cm spread
- Origins: Hybrid of species native to the Canary Islands
Aeonium Care Sheet
Light: Prefers full sun or bright light. Colour is deepest in strong light; partial shade may produce more green tones.
Water: Water when the soil is dry. Reduce watering in dormancy (summer). Allow excess water to drain completely.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a gritty, free-draining succulent or cactus mix. Feed once a month in spring and autumn with diluted fertiliser.
Humidity: Thrives in dry air. Avoid high humidity and never mist.
Pruning & Propagation: Remove leggy growth or faded rosettes to maintain shape. Propagates easily from cuttings taken in spring.
