Acer rubrum 'Scanlon'

Acer rubrum 'Scanlon' is a medium-sized deciduous tree with a neat, narrow and upright growth habit. Its compact, columnar crown makes it particularly useful where a strong vertical feature is required without the broad spread of many larger maples.

The lobed dark green foliage provides an attractive display throughout spring and summer before developing superb shades of deep red, orange and purple in autumn. Clusters of small red flowers also appear on the bare branches in spring, providing additional early-season interest.

Easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils, 'Scanlon' performs well in sun or partial shade and benefits from a position sheltered from strong winds. Its upright form and excellent autumn colour make it a particularly attractive specimen tree for gardens and landscaped areas.
