Here at Cowell’s we don’t ‘do’ Black Friday and people often ask us why?
As a family business we try to operate as fairly as we possible and in doing so, like to offer our customers the best prices we can year round, not just on a particular day. We know that people will be bombarded with offers from retailers but we want our customers to know that they can rely on us whatever day it is.
Last year we encouraged everyone to have ‘Green Friday’ instead of black and take the opportunity to detox from the digital world and immerse themselves in nature. We are doing the same again this year as with the ongoing pandemic, we all need to look after ourselves!
Research shows that spending time outdoors, gardening and caring for plants are all good for our mental health so why not gift yourself some ‘green’ time? Take a walk around your local park and see what plants and wildlife you can spot. One of our favourite in the local area is Saltwell Park in Gateshead, a beautiful Victorian park perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Its historical and peaceful grounds are ideal to relax and unwind in the green space before popping into Saltwell Tower to grab a hot drink to warm you up.
Time spent on a new project is always rewarding as well, why not make some small terrariums to give to your friends and family this year? The process of making them is relaxing and satisfying and your loved ones are sure to appreciate the effort of a hand-made gift that they can enjoy all year round.
