Osmanthus × burkwoodii
Osmanthus × burkwoodii is a handsome evergreen shrub valued for its dense, glossy green foliage and highly fragrant spring flowers. From April to May, clusters of small white blooms appear among the leaves, releasing a sweet, jasmine-like scent that is especially enjoyable when planted near paths, entrances or seating areas.
The compact, rounded habit provides reliable structure and year-round interest, making this a versatile shrub for both formal and informal planting. Its evergreen foliage also makes it particularly useful for hedging, screening and creating a strong backdrop within mixed borders.
Hardy, easy to grow and low maintenance, Osmanthus × burkwoodii performs well in full sun or partial shade and is suitable for a wide range of garden settings. It can be grown as a free-standing specimen or clipped into a dense evergreen hedge.
