Magnolia loebneri 'Leonard Messel'
Magnolia loebneri 'Leonard Messel' is a beautifully refined magnolia developed at Nymans Gardens in Sussex, valued for its elegant spring display and graceful habit. In early spring, it produces masses of star-shaped flowers, each with slender petals opening pale pink to white, highlighted by deeper pink-purple outer surfaces for added contrast.
The flowers appear in profusion before the leaves emerge, creating a light, airy display that brings welcome colour to the garden at the start of the season. With its upright growth habit, this award-winning magnolia provides architectural height and makes a superb specimen tree for lawns, borders and larger gardens, thriving best in a sheltered position with sun or light shade.
