Helleborus × sternii
Helleborus × sternii is an attractive evergreen perennial, a hybrid between Helleborus argutifolius and Helleborus lividus, prized for its handsome marbled foliage and winter flowers. Its leathery, toothed green leaves are often veined with silver, flushed purple beneath, and provide structure year-round. From February to April, clusters of nodding, cup-shaped flowers appear in shades of pale green, sometimes tinged with pink or purple.
A hardy and reliable perennial for shaded or partially shaded sites, it is especially effective in woodland gardens, mixed borders, or naturalistic plantings. Its early blooms attract pollinators, providing nectar when little else is in flower. Easy to grow, low maintenance, and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, Helleborus × sternii is a distinctive and valuable winter-flowering perennial.
