Cornus controversa 'Variegata'
Cornus controversa 'Variegata', often called the Wedding Cake Tree, is a striking small tree or large shrub celebrated for its dramatic, horizontal tiered branching. This distinctive architectural form creates a strong focal point in the garden, becoming increasingly impressive as the plant matures.
The bright green leaves are boldly edged with creamy white, providing light and contrast throughout spring and summer before turning rich red-purple shades in autumn. In late spring to early summer, flattened clusters of creamy white flowers appear, followed by blue-black berries that add further seasonal interest and attract wildlife. Thriving in full sun or partial shade, this award-winning dogwood is ideal for small to medium-sized gardens where its layered habit can be fully appreciated.
