Cornus controversa 'Variegata'

Cornus controversa 'Variegata' is a distinctive small tree or large shrub prized for its elegant, horizontal tiered branching, which creates a striking architectural shape as the plant matures. This layered habit gives rise to its popular common name, the Wedding Cake Tree.

The bright green leaves are boldly edged with creamy white, bringing light and contrast to the garden throughout spring and summer before developing rich red-purple tones in autumn. In late spring to early summer, flattened clusters of creamy white flowers appear, followed by blue-black berries that provide further seasonal interest and are attractive to wildlife.

Best grown in full sun or partial shade, 'Variegata' makes an excellent specimen plant where its distinctive branching structure can be fully appreciated.
