Staking perennials

If not already done, you should now be staking and/or tying in your border perennials, particularly tall-stemmed kinds like delphiniums. There are plastic-coated stakes you can buy, bamboo canes you can get out of storage, or twiggy branches that you can get from elsewhere in the garden. What you use depends on what you are staking ; but leave it much longer and plants will start to flop over.
