Sow radicchio

Sow bright scarlet-and-white radicchio for an eyecatching addition to winter salads. They look like iceberg lettuces dipped in paint and since they prefer cool weather they're ideal for growing through the chillier days of autumn. Once frosted their purple colouring deepens, too. Look out for ever-popular 'Palla Rossa' or vividly-coloured 'Firestorm'.
